According to state information, last year more than 5,000 people in Florida suffered injuries from crashes in which someone unsuccessful to stop at a red light. And 56 people died in those accidents.
Red light running is preventable and unsafe, which is why the Florida division of transport and the Florida division of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles are participating this week in National discontinuing on Red Week.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers are combination other state and local act enforcement officers on the lookout for motorists who fail to discontinue at red traffic signals.
Gov. Charlie Crist signed into law House Bill 325 this year, which authorize state and regional governments to use red-light cameras as a instrument to change driver actions. The new law takes effect July 1 and sets statewide principles for how governments may make use of cameras to cite motorists who be unsuccessful to stop on red.
Few facts about the law:
• A red-light camera citation will price a driver $158.
• A red-light camera citation will not have an effect on Florida auto insurance charge.
• A red-light camera citation will not charge points on a motorist’s driving confirmation.
