Jacksonville, Florida — The citizens of the sunshine state that currently have pre-existing health conditions that have not been able to get medical insurance and have been uninsured for the last six months can now get the new High Risk Pool program that is subsidized insurance offered by the Federal Government. This High Risk Pool is part of Barack Obama’s team that has has offered nearly $6 billion through out the states to help pay for insurance coverage for people over the next few years. The next step will be the health insurance exchanges, which would act more like a permanent “high risk pools” program set to go off in 2014. The state of Florida will get $351 million to pay for unhealthy Florida residents.
“It is a significant difference,” says Ms. Galletta of Jacksonville, Florida, who is a board member of the Florida Association of Health Underwriters. “Many people denied health insurance in the private markets will be able to get buy medical plans through this reform.”
