The Cover Florida health insurance  plan is now available for many Floridians.  The Florida health insurance market has needed an insurance overhaul for a long time. Many Floridians have been paying higher rates than most of the nation and according to a recent survey - Florida in now known for having some of the worst hospital reviews based on care of patients. So to combat that problem Governor Crist signed contracts Wednesday with six insurance companies who will provide 25 new health insurance plans. Is this the solution we’ve been looking for?  I really don’t think it is.  I’m sure many insurance agents have their phones ringing of the hook for these new plans.  What consumers do not know is that there are many restrictions to who can get them.

The new health insurance plan is called, “The Cover Florida Health Care Access Program”, nice name, but it limits coverage to people ages 19 to 64. Moran Moran said, “If you have just lost your job, and your coverage - you are not eligible.” “This plan is only for those who have not had insurance over the last 6 months”.   It is going to help many of our Floridian population, but what happens to those other individuals that want access to the plan?  They have been paying their high deductible health plan premiums and now to do qualify until they drop their current insurance plan.  Does that make sense to you?  Let us know what you think about Cover Florida.
